This list is not complete, but these are the computers we kept a record of at the time of repair because the issue was unique. Most common Acer laptop issues are with suspend switch, especially on older models. Acer brand is also known for higher than normal rate of defective hard drives and as with any notebooks, overheating is a general concern that we see. Most repairs are relatively easy and these machines are easier to open when compared to Lenovo or Sony Vaio brand of laptops.

Some tips from our technicians: Many older Acer notebooks have physical screen suspend switch that wears out with extended normal usage over time. If your screen is dim, that is the first place to check.

Keeping these computers cool is also very important, cleaning out the ventilation system with compressed air once a year will extend life of your notebook and keep it running efficiently. If top of keyboard is getting hot to touch even after using compressed air, then professional service may be needed because vent is likely clogged up with dust over time.

Newer machines work very well with SSD (Solid State Drive) – because of the modern chipsets used, these solid drives can add a big jump in performance. While these newer hard drives provide speed and stamina, data recovery is twice as difficult in case of hardware failure – some points to consider if you wish to upgrade.
